Could you review your report again and rewrite it? There are some guidelines for writing the report which you could follow. These guidelines are not set in stone, of course (e.g. you can have more than two to three main points and you can have a lot of questions or clarifications) but the reason why I asked you to elaborate on just two to three main points was because I wanted you to work on processing your ideas, questions, etc, and I wanted you to distill your thoughts - as a group - in a coherent way.
There are a lot of points that need to be processed in your current report and there are statements that you need to verify or clarify. I'm listing a number of them below:
1. "History tells that countries in Asia used to be xenophobic. This resulted to problems in economy" ---- This is a very sweeping statement. Please verify. Make sure you know what terms like "xenophobic" mean.
2. "Now that we are in the age Globalization, everything has to be sold including language (e.g. Bilingualism)" --- I don't think Wee and Heller are in any way, saying this. They both highlight how strong market forces have become and they question or are critical of the consequences but they are far from saying that "everything has to be sold". Also, clarify your understanding of "globalization". What do you mean by "globalization"?
3. "Before the call centers came here in the Philippines, the Filipinos were settling with the idea of language variety" --- Again, a sweeping statement. You posit a cause and effect here which you will not be able to prove, and you also make a statement about Filipinos attitudes towards language varieties which you will probably not be able to support.
4. "This article tells that the Filipinos always belong to the Top 10 happiest people in the world.What is the secret? On a positive note, the Filipino is content to be with his/her family and to have food on the table; however, if this situation were prolonged, he/she becomes complacent." --- You have read Pennycook by now. Turn a critical eye on this survey. What does "happiness" mean? What effects does this - if you will - stereotype of Filipinos (that we are among the happiest people in the world) have on how we imagine ourselves, what kind of preferred future we may have of the country, etc.
You point out some rather interesting things that are going on in call centres (i.e. "It seems that the call center industry wants the agents to have an American identity and speak the “standard English”, but the trainers speak Philippine English. ") and the title that you chose is very interesting. Elaborate on these if these are the points that you distilled from the readings.
Please work together on the report. I'd like to see your revisions by Monday, at the latest.
